This is decaffeinated coffee

This is a single-origin coffee. That means it comes from one country only. As opposed to blends that can be Guatemala and Ethiopia for example.

This Colombian coffee comes from the Tolima region. The varietal is Castillo, Caturra; collected from many farms. I purchase this from my local importer Bodhi Leaf and roast it to a light + profile which typically does better than just light for this decaf.

They take out the caffeine by fermenting sugarcane to produce Ethyl Acetate. So you may see this as EA Decaf Colombia in other places too. I've tried many types of decaffeinated processes and this one specifically from Colombia has the most depth of flavor.

I got flavor notes of a backyard summer cookout in the cup.

  • Grilled peaches, tangy BBQ sauce, butter sweet rolls

I think that process of fermentation is what gives it that interesting flavor component. Swiss water process doesn't seem to do this so I'm always cupping EA decafs to bring to the menu.

This is good for drip coffee anytime, because it's decaf! Yay!

Best Decaf!!!

My first cup was amazing. I can’t wait to dial it in further and really pull out the flavors. I used an Aeropress and James Hoffmann’s recipe.
