Ethiopia, Yirgacheffe - Light Roast
This is a single-origin coffee. That means it comes from one country only. As opposed to blends that can be Guatemala and Vietnam for example.
This coffee comes from the Aricha Woreda, Yirgacheffee region. The variety is Heirloom and the process is washed. It is grown at a high elevation and was harvested in early 2021. We are picking up this coffee quite late, but it is showing no signs of age to me in the cup.
In the cup, I get strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, black tea, and a cream soda finish. It tastes great as it cools and the acidity milds out, but is still present which means it's going to taste great for a variety of brew methods.
I source this coffee from Hacea Coffee Source a trusted importer located in Anaheim, CA. They are a family-run business that travels to the origins of their coffees and helps small roasters like me understand and attain great coffees like this.
I chose this coffee as a really malleable coffee to replace the Ecuador we used to carry to give all of our blends that pop they need. As a single-origin coffee, it really fulfills that great body, juicy flavor that I love to put on the menu for BLK CITY.
If you haven't tried Ethiopian coffees yet, this is a great one!
Flavors: Strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, black tea, cream soda
Body: Medium-light, not like tea (even though I taste black tea)
Meg's cupping score: 86.5
