I'm always looking for juicy and sweet cups; so this natural piqued my interest. In the cup, it's really layered and checks the box for that interesting profile that I seek with a nice malty, fruity-jam nose. It's sweet and already makes my mouth water. In the cup, it's a straight-up tropical fruit smoothie. Strawberries, banana, and vanilla blended together. With a candied green apple and a jam-like raspberry coming through on the finish. The body is medium, the acidity is high and the finish is long and sweet.
I named this Pioneer for the farmer Don Alberto who was one of the first to lean into the practice of experimenting with varietals to create cups that were more complex and interesting. This varietal for example is a natural mutation of the Bourbon-Typica that Don Alberto has nurtured because of its depth of flavor. His farm is also 100% renewable energy!

Just going even 1-2% longer in the finish would remove the juiciness and crispy elements I love. Keeping the middle phase in a 3:30 -under 4:00 mins makes sure it doesn't get too malty.
